Learn About David Ramsey

David grew up in West TN in a small town consisting of 8,000 people. Even though David was surrounded by die-hard hard Tennessee Volunteer fans, it was natural that he called the Hogs and was an avid University of Arkansas Razorbacks fan. Considering his family was originally from Arkansas, it was not only his goal to attend the University of Arkansas, but to also play football and wear the Razorbacks helmet with a chance to run through the “A”. Through countless hours of practicing his kicking and punting skills, he was ultimately able to fulfill this dream and became a member of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team. Even though David had accomplished his childhood dream of making the U of A football team, it would certainly not be the last major goal he would accomplish. He also was a walk-on baseball player for a short period of time.

While balancing a full class schedule and a maximum of “20 hours” of football practice each week (20 hours was a light week), David was 1 of 2 players to maintain a 4.0 throughout the entire 1998-99 academic year. The ability to stay focused on priorities has proven to be an exceptional trait in life and in his career. David studied Finance in the Walton College of Business and graduated with honors, including spending a summer abroad in China his senior year.

Upon graduation, David wanted to pursue his passion for sports and was ultimately accepted to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. While at UTK, David work to complete a Masters program in Sports Management & Administration. He was also fortunate enough to be selected for a Graduate Assistant position in the Athletics Department, which helped to pay for his entire grad school tuition. Further, by achieving this particular position at UTK, it helped to accomplish David’s goal of graduating with 2 degrees while remaining debt-free. The Graduate Assistant position required a 20-hour per week commitment along with a full schedule of classes. To understand the private sector of sports, David was hired as an Operations Assistant with the Tennessee Smokies Baseball Club for the 2003 baseball season. 15-hour work days along with studying became the norm, but the experience allowed him to develop an unmatchable work ethic and discipline.

Another goal of David’s was to find a wife who loved baseball as much as he did. His mom told him he was crazy, but a young lady named Keli, who was from Knoxville, did not think he was crazy, and actually kind of liked him. They ended up marrying in 2004 and have a daughter named Avery and a son named Andrew. Having a family always brings perspective to a situation. However, the work ethic and discipline David has developed through his life experiences thus far has helped him to maintain a laser focus on his career while still providing for the needs of his family.

On a professional level, after spending a few years in the education sector, David rejoined the sports sector and co-founded Six1Five Sports Training in 2012. David enjoys being around athletes and getting to see their physical development grow to a point where they can be in a position to achieve their own dreams, brings everything full circle for David. Ultimately, David wants to help provide a virtual platform that will allow athletes from all over the world an opportunity to both reach their athletic potential but to also have a chance to be recruited by the college of their dreams. This was the reason why David wanted to partner with Charles to co-found Axcess Coaching.
